**Waimānalo Canoe Club** is more than just a paddling team; it is a dedicated 'Ohana (family) committed to the well-being of the Waimānalo community. Located on the beautiful Windward coast, the club focuses on nurturing physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth through the traditions of Hawaiian voyaging. The club offers robust youth programming, including the **Nā ʻŌpio** (youth) division, which provides opportunities for keiki to learn ocean safety, paddling techniques, and cultural values. Their winter programs, such as **Naneaikaholokai** (ocean safety and comfort) and **Niauahekekia** (high-performance racing), are designed to take young watermen and women from beginners to competitive athletes. **Program Highlights:** * **Nā ʻŌpio Racing:** Competitive season typically running through the winter (Nov–Feb) with races at Keʻehi Lagoon. * **Cultural & Environmental Focus:** Emphasis on caring for the ocean and community through clean-ups and education. * **Performance Training:** Select team opportunities for dedicated youth looking to compete at the highest levels (HCRA, OHCRA, World Championships). **Location:** Practices are primarily held at **Kaiona Beach Park** or the canoe hālau at **Waimānalo Beach Park**. *(Note: Practice sites may vary by season; please contact the club for current schedules.)*
