Manu o ke Kai canoe club
About
Located at the historic mouth of the Anahulu Stream in Haleiwa, **Manu O Ke Kai Canoe Club** has been a pillar of the North Shore community since 1984. More than just a sports team, this non-profit organization uses the *waʻa* (canoe) as a vessel to teach Hawaii’s youth the values of discipline, respect, and Hawaiian culture. Whether your child is looking for a competitive outlet or a way to connect with the ocean, they will find a welcoming "ohana" atmosphere here. The club is renowned for its strong youth focus, with over half of its membership consisting of keiki and junior paddlers. Led by experienced mentors, athletes learn the intricacies of open-ocean safety, teamwork, and the "aloha spirit" that defines the sport. Manu O Ke Kai also actively partners with local high schools—including Leilehua, Mililani, and Waialua—to support varsity paddling teams, creating a seamless pathway for athletes to compete at higher levels. **Program Highlights:** * **Keiki & Junior Divisions:** Comprehensive programs for youth of all ages, from introductory *keiki* crews to competitive 18-and-under teams. * **Regatta Season:** The main summer season (May–August) features sprint races and community events across Oʻahu. * **High School Pathways:** Acts as the home base for several North Shore and Central Oʻahu high school paddling teams. * **Cultural Education:** Emphasis on Hawaiian protocols, language, and ocean stewardship alongside athletic training. **Contact & Socials:** * **Location:** Haleiwa, Hawaiʻi (Māeaea Beach / Anahulu Stream) * **Website:** [www.manuokekaicc.org](https://www.manuokekaicc.org/)
