Serving the scenic communities of Haleiwa, Sunset Beach, and Waialua, **AYSO Region 289** is the heart of youth soccer on the North Shore. Grounded in the six core philosophies of the American Youth Soccer Organization—*Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development*—this region offers a fun, family-oriented environment where keiki can learn the game without the pressure of "win-at-all-costs" leagues. It is a volunteer-run community effort that brings families together every weekend to celebrate healthy activity and teamwork. **Program Highlights** * **Core Program:** The standard recreational track offering balanced teams and guaranteed playing time for every child. * **Winter/Spring Season:** A specialized season often featuring a Jamboree format for younger players (6U/8U) and competitive play for older divisions. * **Select Season:** An advanced opportunity for 10U–14U players to compete at a higher level (Travel required for games). * **Local & Travel Play:** 10U and younger play locally on the North Shore; 12U and older travel to Waipio Soccer Complex for games. * **Volunteer Driven:** The region relies on parents to coach, referee, and coordinate, offering free training for all volunteers.
