About

Established in 1974 as the first AYSO region outside of California, **AYSO Region 48 (Diamond Head)** is a historic cornerstone of youth soccer in East Honolulu. For over 50 years, this volunteer-run organization has been dedicated to providing a world-class soccer program that enriches children’s lives. Grounded in the six core philosophies—Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development—Region 48 creates a fun, fair, and safe environment where the focus is on the child's growth and enjoyment of the game, rather than just the final score. **Program Highlights** * **Core Program (Ages 4–19):** Open registration for boys and girls, ensuring balanced teams and guaranteed playing time for every child. * **Service Area:** Serves East Honolulu, specifically the communities of Waialae, Kahala, Aina Haina, Niu Valley, Kuliouou, and Hawaii Kai. * **Fields:** Primary fields include [Kamilo'iki Community Park](https://www.google.com/maps/dir/21.373473,-157.7228747/Kamilo'iki+Community+Park,+7750+Hawaii+Kai+Dr,+Honolulu,+HI+96825/@21.34258,-157.792532,12z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m9!4m8!1m1!4e1!1m5!1m1!1s0x7c0012370edb5693:0xf6f5949930a926fe!2m2!1d-157.6866225!2d21.295741?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MTIwOS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D), [Petrie Park](https://www.google.com/maps?um=1&ie=UTF-8&fb=1&gl=us&sa=X&geocode=KVF5ER9ibQB8MfQKW7_mh1ek&daddr=1039+20th+Ave,+Honolulu,+HI+96816), [Waialae Iki Park](https://www.google.com/maps/dir//Honolulu,+HI+96821/@21.3671698,-157.725832,15z/data=!4m8!4m7!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x7c006d56b5d4c1c3:0x31b049055ac0d6ce!2m2!1d-157.7686771!2d21.2769377?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MTIwOS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D)

Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment does my child need?
Players need soccer shoes (cleats recommended), shin guards, a soccer ball (size varies by age), and a water bottle. The uniform (jersey, shorts, socks) is provided by the league.
Can I request to be on a team with a friend?
To support the AYSO philosophy of Balanced Teams, the league cannot accommodate requests for specific coaches or teammates, with the exception of siblings in the same division.
When are practices and games?
Practices are typically held once or twice a week in the evenings, with games on Saturdays. The specific schedule is determined by the team's volunteer coach.
