For local families in ʻAiea, the ʻAiea Hongwanji Judo Club offers a wonderful opportunity for keiki to learn more than just a sport. With deep roots in the community since 1957, the club operates out of the ʻAiea Hongwanji Mission, fostering an environment built on respect, discipline, and mutual welfare. It’s a place where children can build confidence and character through the principles of Judo, guided by a dedicated team of instructors who are deeply invested in their students' growth both on and off the mat. The club is distinguished by its world-class leadership, headed by Sensei Kevin Asano, a 1988 Olympic Silver Medalist. This level of expertise provides an incredible foundation for young learners, ensuring they receive high-quality instruction in a safe and supportive setting. With clear programs for youth (ages 5-12) and adults, the club makes it easy for the whole family to get involved, promoting physical fitness and skill-building that will serve our keiki for a lifetime.
